Exciting Educational Tools for ALL Learners

Hey, I just tried a new educational site called Math playground. It has resources for grade levels k-12.  This site has great videos, assignments and independent work. Please check out Playground and tell me if you think it would be good for your learners.  Here is an example of a lesson.

Hey Check out Cool Math!  This online educational site has math assignments from Grades  k-12.  this is a great way to have kids especially special education students learn math through games.  I personally didn’t like this site as much as playground or brainpop but what do you think?        http://www.coolmath.com

See if you agree… junior brainpop is for grades k -3 and brainpop is for grades k-12.  Brainpop constantly gets voted educators favorite online educational site.  Although, high school teachers complain that it is too young for their students.  I love it for my special education students because it takes higher level concepts and breaks it down to understandable instruction.     http://www.brainpop.com/

Unless you have little ones, funbrain maybe your least favorite.  I think this site would be too young for any grade level over 5th Grade.  Check it out and see if you agree….   http://www.funbrain.com/

  4. Mark, I do not use the sites you have posted in the classroom, but have explored them and suggested them to parents. These kind of sites are great for special ed students because it brings the learning to their level. As far as teachers saying it is too young for their students, it depends where that student is at. If they are still learning basic math facts, that is where that student is at. I really think that at the upper levels too many teachers think a kid should be doing trig or geometry just because they are in the grade level that should be doing those skills. It is too easy to forget that the student may not have the basic number sense foundation to be learning the skills needed for their grade level. Kind of like expecting kids to read read words before they have learned letter sounds.

  5. Mark, these are all great sites for kids! I have found that using these "tricks" kids into learning! They have so much fun and end up learning so much! Why not let them have some computer time, as long as they get some real people time, too? I have seen special needs students fall in love with some of these sites also! Great resources!
